Waterfront Records 8.5" Deck

We're incredibly proud to be releasing this official Waterfront Records collab deck.

Waterfront Records means a lot to us here at Desert Highways. Both the label and the store were a huge part of Australian independent music.

The label had an incredible catalogue of releases including Hard-Ons, Rollins, Tumbleweed, Massappeal, Hellmenn, The Eastern Dark, Happy Hate Me Nots, Stupids, Ratcat, Proton Energy Pills, Mr Floppy and more — along with some of the coolest compilations around: 'Fuck Me I'm Rich', 'Hard To Believe (A Kiss Covers Compilation)', 'Skate Hard' and 'On The Waterfront' Volumes 1, 2 & 3.

The store itself was a home for music fans from all over, and for anyone travelling to Sydney, it was always high on the list of places you had to visit. Long before the internet made everything a click away, Waterfront introduced us to rare and hard-to-find overseas releases you simply couldn't find anywhere else. Sometimes just discovering those records existed was half the experience.

Waterfront Records is a big part of why Desert Highways exists. The records they released, the music they introduced us to and the culture they created left a lasting mark. Without Waterfront and other iconic stores like it, there would be no Desert Highways.

It means a hell of a lot to us to be able to pay tribute to that history with this deck.

The deck art is based on the original Waterfront logo designed by Heather Cameron is 1983.
