Stoner legend Brant Bjork has been a frequent visitor to our shores, so when his tour was announced, all the desert rats come out in droves. Before the show at The Corner, Bjork had already played Negative Waves in Geelong and Cherry Rock at Cherry Bar. Along for the ride he bought Holy SerpentDon Fernando and Fuck the Fitzroy Doom Scene.

It’d been a long time between beers since I’ve seen FTFDS so I made sure I was front and centre. As soon the riff for ‘Better Off Dead’ kicked in I was pinned to the wall. The unique thing about this band is the three part harmonies, it gives the performance incredible strength. They finish off with the sludgiest version of ‘Facing The Ruin’, by the end of the set my heart was in my throat and my ears were blasted, did I care? Not in the slightest. Continue reading

Red Fang have made big waves around the world with banging riff-filled stoner rock and hilarious music videos. After three solid LP’s and several EP’s, splits and singles, the boys from Portland (US) are hitting Australia for CHERRYROCK Festival and a national tour. Jackyboy had a chat with lead guitarist David Sullivan about beer, music videos and Dungeons and Dragons.

Jackyboy: Red Fang are Australia bound this May for a bunch of shows including Melbourne’s proud little rock festival, CHERRYROCK, down the one and only AC/DC Lane. Great to have you back, are you excited to tour the southern hemisphere again?

DESERT HIGHWAYS TOP 10 Releases for 2013 & more…

First of all, a massive thanx to all who have supported Desert Highways and to all the bands I have worked with especially The Hidden Venture, Drifter, Don Fernando, Seedy Jeezus and TTTDC. 2013 has been a massive year including the release of the debut Desert Highways 7″ with friends all being a part of its release, Chainsaw Hookers, Electric Frankenstein, Ben Brown and Mr Frumpy.
